Welcome future health Professionals!
HOSA is an international career & technical student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education (HSE) Division of ACTE.
HOSA's goal is to encourage all health science instructors and students to join and be actively involved in the HSE-HOSA Partnership. HOSA provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition exclusively for secondary, postsecondary, adult, and collegiate students enrolled in health science education and biomedical science programs or have interests in pursuing careers in health professions.
HOSA provides thrilling competitive experience where students can choose between 86 different competitive categories, allowing them to expand on their knowledge regarding the medical field. The Regional Leadership Conference (RLC), State Leadership Conference (SLC), and International Leadership Conference (ILC), provide and environment where students can learn leadership skills, and most importantly, have fun! Our club is a successful competitive environment, as our competitors have qualified for ILC for 5 years in a row.
Outside of competitive opportunities, there are a multitude of events that our local HOSA club engages in. Monthly blood drives, community health screenings, and access to medical guest speakers are all opportunities that our members can participate in. Creating a platform for students to introduce themselves to the world of healthcare, West Port HOSA prides itself in creating the future health professionals of our community, country, and world.
Any student at Westport High school may join HOSA during semester 1 club sign up's. Our chapter meetings are held on Wednesdays once a month with additional meetings scheduled for after-school for members interested in competitive events and leadership development. Members are required to pay a 50 dollar participation fee that covers their HOSA shirt, their RLC fee, and the official HOSA patch and pin.
Be sure to contact the HOSA teacher, Mrs. Bianca Peacock, or reach out to our instagram, @wp_hosa, if you have any questions or are interested in becoming a member.
